16/01/2014 Guildford Museum – Local Archaeology in the News!

So I was at Guildford Museum again and continued to enter catalogue inventory cards. This was in addition to finishing the booklet of photos for the Guildford Floods exhibition. I ‘m hoping that by the time I’m in next week the booklet will be on display!

As well as the actual voluntary work I had a nice chat with the Collections Officer of the museum. This week Guildford has been in the news for finding Stone Age Flints in a re-development of the fire station. It’s a really sweet story where a local man who took night classes in archaeology collected the flints  wen he worked at the fire station 40 years ago. Those finds are recorded in the museum and have now lead to further investigation. hopefully I’ll hear some more about it, and if I’m given the chance I’ll definitely get involved!
